On a daily basis in our household there is always some form of crafty activity going on. Whether it’s simply drawing pictures or more full on with painting, glue and glitter. My kids love it and it’s a great way to explore their imagination.
When I found out about Little Green Crafts and their product range I was very excited. You see, I still have a 3 year old (and 9 month old) who likes to “taste” the crayons and paints.
At Little Green Crafts, their crayons and paints are made from plant and vegetable based ingredients. Now I’m not going to let them eat them of course, but its good to know just in case.
Little Green Crafts focus on eco-friendly kids art and craft kits and supplies. Their range includes kits and accessories for animal and puppet making, drawing and painting, gardening, clay and dough modeling, and paper and wooden crafts.
They are all made from natural, recycled/recyclable, and sustainable materials, such as reclaimed wool, recycled paper and card, beeswax and soy wax, plant and vegetable based ingredients and dyes, and FSC certified/sustainable timber.
Heather, the founder of Little Green Crafts has a background working in libraries, coordinating children’s story time sessions and school holiday activities, and working in preschools and kindergartens. This has given her a lot of experience with preparing and supervising art and craft activities for children of all ages.
From those experiences, she learned to appreciate the importance of giving children opportunities to express themselves creatively in many different ways. She has also seen the amount of paper, cardboard and other art and craft supplies that children can go through in the process of making their own creations. There can be a lot of waste and use of plastic and other artificial materials that are not environmentally friendly and only add to landfill after they are discarded.
Heather has therefore created a range of good quality children’s art and craft kits and supplies that allows children to express creativity in multiple ways, while also considering their impact on the world around them. She has also included options that are accessible and useful to children with special needs and sensory issues.
Little Green Crafts supports as many local Australian businesses as possible, as well as some ethical, fair trade suppliers that enable artisans in developing countries to sell their wares for a living wage, while also being environmentally sustainable in their practices.
If you want to stimulate your child’s imagination, senses and creativity, support them in their development, give them hours of fun, and be good for the environment, all at the same time, pop over to Little Green Crafts and browse their amazing range of products.
